starting to look for her. tara moriarty has more. >> reporter: alyssa burn's friend reported her missing to south lake tahoe police and they started sending out pictures of her. they gave the case to the sheriff's office in nevada which was actually across the state line. it took lake tahoe police reportedly more than a day and a half to notify nevada. we called them this morning and we are waiting to hear what they have to say about it. meantime, alyssa burns has not been seen since shortly before midnight according to friends who were with her. she was in town for a three day music festival which attracts thousands. she disappeared around 11:30 and told her friends she was taking a shuttle back to the resort. she was spotted by guests in the lobby around midnight. she worked as a hostess here in petaluma and was studying to be a paramedic firefighter at the campus. again she is described as 5- foot 3, long hair died black and a fair complexion. we'll see where all of this stands right now with the investigation. live in petaluma, ktvu channel 2 morning news. >>> a court arrangement is

in petaluma is moving forward with a fundraiser for the family of alyssa burn, the family of the teenager who was found yesterday morning. ker live in pietrus aluminumma this morning. what's the new plan? >> good morning, katie. beyond the glory sports bar and grill this morning will be giving the money from today's dean and donate event for the national center for missing families. they say they don't want the money, they want it going to other families going through the torment of missing a child. and it's expected to be a dig turnout. we have video from last night's vigil that was held at casa grande high school. that's where the 19-year-old graduated from in 2011. people gathered placing momentous, flowers and notes and gathered next to the field where she played lacrosse. they stood together silently crying and barely saying a word for more than an hour. some friends sold abc7 news they had already gotten turtle tattoos as a way to remember alisa. >> alyssa loved turtles. it's something everyone knows. everyone is a turtle to her. it's something everyone knows of her. >> usu

loved one, 19-year-old alyssa burn was found dead in the snow in south lake tahoe. last night hundreds of people gathered at her high school in petaluma to remember the young woman. the teenager who graduated in 2011 disappeared in south lake tahoe where she was with some of her friends for new year's. her body was found four days later. her death is a devastating loss for the entire community. >> she was the kind of person that just lit up the room right when she walked in, it breaks my heart to see it gone. >> you see it all the time and you never think it will happen to you. you can't replace family. >> byrne was known for her love of sports. after graduation she coached a youth teen and many of her young players and paerpts werents wer vigil as well. they say she would have been humbled by the outpouring and support of her hometown of petaluma. >>> coming up on "today in the bay" we'll have more from petaluma how local businesses plan to help the byrne family. passengers take action into their own hands, what they say forced them to duct tape this man to his chair on board
